In Rolla, MO, recent child care closures have created a significant gap for families in need of reliable care. In response, Kristina Mickelson is expanding her licensed in-home program into a group home setting to increase capacity and better serve her community. “Over the past year, our community has experienced the closure of three daycare centers, significantly reducing the availability of quality childcare,” Kristina shared. “Through this expansion, I aim to increase the number of available subsidy-supported slots, helping to ensure that more families have access to affordable, high-quality care.” With approximately 80% of her current enrollment supported through child care subsidy, this expansion will play a critical role in increasing access for families who depend on it.
