In Phelps County, where child care options are limited, especially for infants and toddlers, First Presbyterian Preschool is taking action to expand access. After identifying two underutilized rooms previously used for storage, the program made the decision to convert the space into new classrooms. One room, with direct outdoor access, will serve ambulatory infants, while the second will support children over 24 months. The rooms have already been cleared and approved, with updates underway using allocated funds to fully prepare the spaces. Once complete, this expansion will create space for 10 additional children, helping address a critical gap in care for the community.
